How can character analysis help me understand a play/work better?

Analysing a character from a work or a play lets you have a better inside of what's going on during subplots. Instead of only using and conforming with the superficial plot, analysing the characters leads you to a better understanding of the play. For example it lets you know each character's intentions and motives. Not only what is said in the play but alongside making connections you can get a better  idea of the character background.

Also making an analysis makes you re-read and catch to things that you may had passed while making a normal reading. That's because when you analyse a character you have to understand it almost entirely and for that you have to read the work or play consciously. Not only a fast and for entertainment purposes as someone would normally
